Busia, March 18, 2024 – In a devastating incident, the Busia Victory Primary School in Kisenyi B Village, Busia City, Uganda was engulfed in flames in the early hours of the morning, claiming the lives of four innocent children.
The incident left the local community in shock and disbelief.
The fire broke out while the children were fast asleep and the fire and rescue team stationed at Busia Police Station responded quickly.
Despite their efforts to extinguish the fire, the fire was fatal to four young people, while one child narrowly escaped death with minor injuries.
The victims, Obur John Richard, Abdul Ali, Majero James and Adero Makoha, all students from different grades at the school, were found charred beyond recognition. We are in a tragic situation.
Authorities transferred the body to Busia Health Center IV for post-mortem examination.
Egesa Alvin, the sole survivor, is currently receiving treatment at the BMK Clinic in Busia, while authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire that gutted the boys' dormitory, leaving 62 students homeless. We are working hard on this.

The principal of Busia Victory Primary School expressed his condolences to the grieving family and pledged support during this tragic time. Samples will be collected from parents and relatives for DNA analysis to help properly identify and hand over the deceased.
