It's not uncommon for Jonathan Kuminga to be at the center of trade rumors, but the Warriors' 21-year-old rising star isn't concerned with speculation that Golden State will trade him.
In an exclusive interview with Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes, Kuminga revealed how he's drowning out the noise surrounding trade rumors and focusing on his role with the Warriors.
“I don't really pay attention to the deal because at the end of the day, whatever happens, it's definitely God's plan,” Kuminga told Haynes. “I stay focused and don't listen to too much outside noise or transactions.” [rumors]. If something happens, I'll tell my agent, but you don't have to tell me.
“If my name is in a trade, don't say anything. I just want to focus. Before I got traded, I'm still on the team. What I'm focused on is , just being on that team and helping us win and get better every day.
“Anything that comes with a transaction. [rumors] I don't really care about things like that. ”
Kuminga was recently involved in trade rumors surrounding All-NBA forward Pascal Siakam before the Toronto Raptors ultimately traded the two-time All-Star to the Indiana Pacers.
The Warriors are reportedly reluctant to trade Kuminga, who has become a mainstay of Golden State's rotation in recent weeks. Kuminga is averaging 19.9 points per game in his last 10 games, shooting an impressive 37.9 percent from the 3-point line during that span.
The dynamic wing has scored at least 20 points in five consecutive games, including a career-high 31 points in the Warriors' 134-133 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday at Chase Center. .
With Golden State facing a problematic crossroads on its roster and the Feb. 8 NBA trade deadline approaching, Kuminga's recent meteoric rise likely increases his value.
For now, Kuminga plans to remain focused on his role with the Warriors and help the team in any way he can.
