ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. — St. Lucie County residents may be having trouble accessing county commissioners and other services after network issues forced the county to take down its main servers.
On Tuesday, the county posted on Facebook: “Our website has been restored. Please note that we are still experiencing network issues impacting our department's email, phone and electronic files.”
Eric Gill, the county's communications director, said Monday that the issue began Friday.
The county became aware of suspicious activity on the server. While they conducted their investigation, the issue was impacting county services and phone lines.
“911 calls are still coming in. Some of our computer-assisted dispatch systems have been affected, but we are still able to accept 911 calls, alert fire and law enforcement, and send officers to the scene if necessary.” We can send them out,” Gill said.
He added, “Our tax collectors are working with neighboring Martin and Indian River counties to accommodate the increased number of customers who may be traveling there to renew their driver's licenses or renew their fishing licenses. Therefore, we have dispatched staff to the facility,” he added.
Officials don't know when the computers will be back up and running.
All departments under the jurisdiction of the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners are open during regular business hours.
A code compliance meeting scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday has been canceled.
