A waterfront cabin in a hard-covered neighborhood in one of South Australia's most popular coastal holiday spots has hit the market for the first time in 71 years.
The Goolwa South property at 107 Barrage Rd has been owned by the same family since 1951.
Now, the five brothers who inherited the house from their father, one of the original owners, have decided to sell it in a move that is proving to be appreciated by home seekers.
Ray White Goolwa Victor Harbor sales agent Nathan Fry said there had been a lot of interest.

“The interest so far has generally been the Adelaide market and local residents,” he said.
“There was a lot of interest because local people knew the location. Local people had already put in offers.”
The 681 square meter plot, which faces Hindmarsh Island, offers panoramic views from Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club and Goolwa Pier to Goolwa Weir and the sand dunes.
“It's great sport on the river there. We had a sale on Barrage Road just recently, but there's never too much on the market at one time,” Mr Fry said.
“I don't think you can find a better place than here.”

Mr Fry said the cabin was habitable but would likely be demolished to make way for more modern housing.
“Even though I can use it, I'm just concentrating on the position and the field,'' he said.
One of the owners, Vivian Stockwell, had fond memories of spending family holidays on the property, where her father bought the property with her uncle and great-uncle and built a cabin there.
“My dad brought in some ready-made frames, but it only had two large rooms,” she said.
“We used the wood stove in the cabin until we added a kitchen, bathroom and small bedroom.”

Goolwa, then a “quiet little town”, had a small fishing fleet, and his father counted seagulls on the sails and headed to the quay to buy his favorite food, “the freshest butterfish.” She said she was deciding whether it was worth it.
“The most exciting thing for me was probably the train, or maybe the drive-in in Port Elliot,” she said.
“Back then, we had an unobstructed view of the station and the tracks.
“And we enjoyed it for several years because there was a speed boat race right in front of us and it was fast and noisy.
“It's such a wonderful memory.”
Mr Stockwell said he was still a bit reluctant to sell, but said now was the right time for him and his siblings.
Because the property is in a suburban neighborhood zone, it could be subdivided and redeveloped with council consent, or new housing could be built on it.
Expressions of interest for the property close on January 31st.
