Uttam Kumar Reddy, speaking at a reunion of old school boys at a government high school in Huzurnagar on Sunday, said efforts were underway to reopen government schools closed by the BRS government and provide modern infrastructure. Ta.
Uttam Kumar Reddy pointed out that the BRS government has reduced the allocation for education from 10.89% of the budget in 2014-15 to 6.57% in 2023-24. Spending on education remained the lowest among all states. Only Rs 300 million was disbursed for the Mana All Mana Badi initiative and the promise of free education for KG and PG was ignored.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that in line with the poll promise, the Congress government will recruit all the vacant staff posts in state-run educational institutions. Every mandal will have an international school with modern facilities and infrastructure and students will be provided with free bus services.
He stressed that all children should have access to quality education, regardless of their parents' economic status.
Uttam Kumar Reddy, who became emotional at the reunion event, said that schools are not just physical structures but are intertwined with emotions and childhood memories. Schools serve as fertile ground where seeds grow into plants and then large trees.
“Time spent at school is etched in our memories, shapes us and has a lasting impact on our lives. This includes the school buildings, classrooms, playgrounds and most importantly , which includes memories of our teachers,” he said.
He congratulated the organizers of the reunion for the elderly, noting that such gatherings foster nostalgia and camaraderie.
