For nearly 50 years, teachers in the archdiocese celebrating milestone anniversaries of 25 or 50 years of service have been recognized at the Mass of Thanksgiving during Catholic Schools Week.
The tradition has been on hiatus since 2021 due to the pandemic, but this fall, 37 teachers and six administrators from the region's 13 archdiocesan high schools participated in faculty sessions held at each high school. He was honored during Mass.

“This year, whether it was Mass or a faculty meeting, representatives from the Office of Catholic Education took advantage of the school's most favorable time to honor faculty and staff who are celebrating anniversaries,” said Steve Clement, chief administrative officer of secondary schools. he said. Clement said he hopes the tradition of recognizing teachers and administrators during Catholic Schools Week will resume next year.
50th Remembrance Day for Catholic Schools Week will be celebrated from January 28 to February 3, 2024. The national theme for Catholic Schools Week in 2024 is “Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community.”
As part of the celebration of National Catholic Schools Week, the archdiocese's five-county school community will honor all teachers, principals, administrators and staff on Friday, February 2nd.
High schools with staff members celebrating important milestones include Archbishop Carroll, Archbishop Ryan, Archbishop Wood, Bishop Shanahan, Cardinal O'Hara, Conwell Egan Catholic Church, Father Judge, Lansdale Catholic Church, Monsignor Bonner & Prendergast. These include the archbishop, Pope John Paul II, and the Roman Catholic Church. , St. John Neumann and St. Maria Goretti, St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls.
The six administrators have a combined 180 years of service, and the 37 high school teachers have a combined total of more than 1,000 years of service to Catholic education.
“Showing your staff that they are valued makes them want to be a part of this effort as long as they do,” Clement said. “As a Catholic educational institution, it is important that we have teachers who are committed to the faith, the mission, and their local educational institutions. Our educational system is successful because of their outstanding efforts. [teachers, staff, and administrators] do. “
He noted that the longevity of these educators is one of the many reasons families choose to send their children to Catholic schools.
“The fact that so many teachers are so committed to remaining part of our organization for so long shows the value of Catholic education,” Clement added. “For many people, it's more than a job. It's a calling.”
Clement emphasized the importance of teachers and administrators being dedicated to providing a quality Catholic education to students across the archdiocese.
“We honor their commitment to missionary discipleship and their desire to provide space in the classroom to nurture young minds in the tradition of Catholic education,” he said.
