Marc Marquez's Ducati this season will be missing the developments added to the four rival bikes.
Factory Ducati pair Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini, Pramac's Jorge Martin and Franco Morvidel will benefit from the new GP24.
Gresini's Marquez brothers, Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio of VR46, will have to ride the yearling Desmosedici.
“I think the difference between the GP24 and the GP23 is bigger than the difference between the GP23 and the GP22,” Ducati technical director Davide Barana told Marca about how the new version is more advanced than Marquez's. Told.
He identified the key change as “power.”
“Reaching 370 km/h? No, it will be noticeable at a few km/h,” Barana explained.
“To achieve a speed of about 10km/h, you need tens of horsepower.
“Furthermore, top speed depends not only on power but also on aerodynamics.
“The more surface area you have to create downforce, the higher the cost of top speed.
“But there are other things too, so we have to balance it out.
“Then we will prepare the aerodynamic package and take it to Sepang as usual.
“During the presentation, we looked at the aerodynamics from the previous year…Also, because there are so few parts, it always arrives at the last minute.
“You can see the difference. The difference is very obvious.
“We have seen good results in the desktop simulations, but it needs to be confirmed by the rider on a sensory level on the track.”
Marquez tested the GP22 last year at the post-season Valencia test, which was his Ducati debut.
He, along with other MotoGP riders, will test the new machine at the Sepang test from February 6th to 8th.
New concession rules will give Honda and Yamaha riders a head start and allow them to test during the February 1-3 shakedown.
