Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Kartika Viljoatmojo said that the tourism fund will be discussed in a limited meeting and the presidential regulation related to it will be issued in March 2024. Stated.
“We hope to finalize the Presidential Regulation in March and (the tourism fund) will be operational this year,” he said at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordination here on Wednesday.
Wiljoatmojo said the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises also encouraged the immediate issuance of a Presidential Regulation on Public Service Units (BLUs) for flexible financial management of tourism funds.
He said the tourism fund will act as a new catalyst to introduce cultural and ecotourism events, which will help Indonesia become more and more known worldwide.
“This fund will be a source of funding for various events such as F1 Powerboat and MotoGP. Hopefully, we will create new events so that more world-class ecotourism and cultural events will be held in Indonesia.” We hope that this will serve as a new catalyst for the creation of new products,'' the Deputy Minister said.

Meanwhile, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said tourism fund spending could reach Rp 2 trillion (US$127.5 million) annually.
The fund is expected to support the tourism and creative economy sectors. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will also organize various events to impact the welfare of local communities and create new jobs.
Through the fund, the ministry plans to organize international quality events in five super-priority destinations in Indonesia.
The initiative to establish a tourism fund was inspired by the success of the MotoGP racing event, which was able to generate Rp 4.5 trillion (approximately US$ 287 million) in 2022.
