Marsabit MP Naomi Giro Waco is now calling on the county's political leaders to avoid early campaigning.
Speaking at a New Year party organized by youths in Golo Luquesa on Sunday, Waco said some politicians in the county were engaged in the 2027 election campaign at the expense of development.
“Politicians should tone down their politics. It's unfair to always play politics of confrontation from one political period to the next without giving room for development,” Wako said.
She urged young people not to make politics a do-or-die game, adding that they should stop fighting each other for the sake of a few selfish leaders.
She condemned those pushing her to declare her interest in the Marsabit gubernatorial race in 2027, saying she was focused on delivering her mission to the people.
She further called on political leaders to avoid promoting the politics of hatred and instead put aside their differences and work together to ensure the interests of the people are met.
“Elections are about power relations, not just abuse and hatred. I call on my fellow leaders to demonstrate love and unity,” she said.
She said she would continue to work with other leaders to improve the lives of local residents.
The Deputy Chief Whip vowed to continue to support youth talent in the county, as well as encourage access to quality education through the provision of scholarships.
She pledged to actively help young people tap into their diverse talents, noting that this is not only good for the county's economy.
“Youth drug addiction and involvement in crime is also a contributing factor to the failure of leaders to provide emotional and material support to talented young people,” said Deputy Chief Whip.
The women's representatives called on the people to avoid violence and embrace peace and unity for sustainable development.
She pointed out that only a peaceful atmosphere can ensure meaningful development and socio-economic prosperity for all.
She implored women in the county to have more children and raise them as communists, emphasizing the importance of reversing the county's declining birth rate.
She assured residents that under her leadership they would receive equal and better services.
“I want to assure the people of Marsabit County that we are going to serve them regardless of who they voted for,” she said.
Sagante Jardesa District MCA Amos Waco said the recent drilling of boreholes in the area will increase access to clean water in rural areas.
He said the provision of adequate water to households in local communities increases agricultural productivity and promotes food security.
He said residents travel long distances in search of clean water, especially during the dry season, and praised the county government for supporting the borehole drilling.
The minority leader of the county council has promised residents that road improvements will be undertaken to ensure all roads in the borough are passable.
Marsabit County Chief Executive Secretary Godfrey Godana said Governor Mohamud Ali's administration is committed to ensuring that civil servants carry out their duties in a professional manner and act with a sense of urgency in providing services to the people. He said there was.
