She suffered domestic violence and after clinging to her husband for a while, she couldn't take it anymore.

She left her home, loaded her two children in a truck and headed to Uganda, before arriving in Kenya.
As a foreigner with nothing, life in her new land was not as easy as she expected.
“We were living in a temporary house just to protect us from the rain, but it was small,” she said.
She wasn't the only one always hungry in the small shelter, but so were her young children.

In order to survive, the mother of two had to discipline her young children harshly and give them strange responsibilities at an early age.
“We used to go to hotels to beg for food and eat the leftovers with napkins and toothpicks.
Whenever I ate that food, I always got sick to my stomach,” said the homeless woman.

At times, she sent her children to beg for food and money, risking their lives to child trafficking and other dangers.

She recalled when one of her children came to her and told her that he had offered to give her 100 shillings if someone would sleep with her.
The 21-year-old young woman also showed how she collected pieces of mattresses and combined them with clothes to make a bed.
Wimana lived in fear for her life and that of her children, and prayed to God for the good Samaritans.
