At the beginning of each year, we encourage business owners to renew their business licenses by the February 15th renewal deadline.
The following changes came into effect last year following an update to the Business License Articles of Incorporation.
- After reviewing and comparing the rates of municipalities of similar size, the rate structure was adjusted and the “early bird discount” was abolished.
- However, business licenses technically expire at the end of the year. Your business will still be compliant and allowed to operate in town until the February 15 deadline. According to the newly enacted Business License Ordinance No. 2280, if a business license is not renewed by February 15th, it will be considered invalid and no business can operate within the town limits until the license is renewed. It is not allowed to do so.and
- Going forward, the Town of Edson will no longer issue paper business license certificates each year to reduce paper waste. We ask business owners in their fifth year to place a new business license sticker over the old sticker on their certificate.
