Calls for Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau to become governor in 2027 are gaining momentum.
These were the voices that dominated the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) grant-making rally in Or Karoo last week.
The congresswoman acknowledged, “I heard your prayers, and I know God heard them too.” When the time comes, I will give instructions. ”
She said electoral seats should be contested because “no seat is anyone's property.”
During the scholarship presentation rally, David Kamunya, a member of the Congressional Women's Advocates, paraded a large group of people who would act as “ears” on the ground in different parts of the county.
“We are listening to the voices on the ground and people are speaking with one voice. We have had two male governors so far, Mr. (Daniel) Waitaka and Mr. (Francis) Kimia. The time is ripe for Nyandarua to have a female governor,” Kamunya said.
Gitau was one of the front-runners for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) gubernatorial nomination for the 2022 general election, but the party settled on current Nyandarua governor Moses Kiary Badirisha.
Nyandarua NGAAF board chairman Fr David Munyeki said people across the county wanted a female councilor to take the top spot.
“The voice of the people is the voice of God,” the priest said.
Gitau called on Governor Badirisha to ensure that hospitals have medical supplies and that county roads are properly paved.
The two-time congresswoman called on judges to have a human heart when it comes to issues that affect millions of people, such as affordable housing projects and court cases.
Social insurance funds will be taken to court.
She appealed to the government to increase funding for NGAAF, saying the amount each female representative receives is not enough to meet the huge demand.
