An uninhabitable garbage dump in Logan was sold at auction, drawing more than 160 registered bidders and a mob-like scene.
The record-breaking auction, held at 19 Billabong Drive, Crest Mead, sold for $494,700, with 161 registered bidders, the most ever for an Australian auction.
More than 500 spectators watched this unusual no-reserve auction begin with a $1 bid and reach the final sale price.
Everyone who inspected the property was required to sign a compensation form before inspecting the home.

Real estate agent Cory Boyd, who ran the campaign and creative real estate video, said he knew the property would attract a lot of interest, but didn't expect it to break the record for most bidders in the country. There wasn't, he said.
“I have never seen anything like today in my career. Our top priority was to get the best outcome for our sellers,” Boyd said.
“Local charity PCYC was here today, complete with popcorn, floss machines and sausage sizzle.
“The new owners plan to make some basic renovations to the property, rent it out, and perhaps sell it in a few years. Crest Mead remains very popular with buyers.”

Ray White Marsden principal Avi Khan said he was thrilled with the results and said the sellers had great faith in the creative campaign.
“We always tell our sellers that we are the safest agent south of Brisbane. We want to uplift this area and uplift our community. , providing transparency in the purchasing process,” Khan said.
“The market is booming right now. It's very well placed. If you want to buy, I think you should get on the market soon. There's something for everyone out there and it shows no signs of slowing down.”

Auctioneer Justin Nickerson of Apollo Auctions said this auction was unlike any he has commissioned in the past.
“It was a party, carnival-like atmosphere. At most auctions, bidders are initially apprehensive, but that was not the case at all,” Nickerson said.
“It was a great result considering the condition of the property. When you have top competition for real estate, it doesn't matter if you have a reserve or not.
“The markets in Brisbane South and Logan remain strong, but can be a bit selective at times. Homes like the one we sold today are very difficult to find builders, so we have had a hard time selling them recently. It's getting a little bit more difficult. So it's a really great result.”
