(Cass Co) The Cass County Tourism Commission met on December 16, 2023. After some discussion, the group decided to change things up a bit for his 2024. Going forward, the schedule will include four meetings per year, with meetings held at 9 a.m. on the first Wednesday of February, May, August, and November. Unless otherwise specified, meetings will be held at the Atlantic Conference Center.
New officers for 2024 have been elected.

Treasurer: Kenner Baxter
The economic impact of visitors to Iowa, including Cass County, is significant, according to a Travel Iowa report. Tourist spending in 2022 (latest economic impact report) was a whopping $6.9 billion. This means that travelers visiting Iowa spend approximately $19 million each day. In Cass County, local sales taxes collected exceeded $1,700,000. And state sales taxes collected in Cass County that year were $2.17 million. Tourism is more than just fun and games, it means business.
