Matthew Gendle, director of Project Pericles and professor of psychology, wrote an essay published in the latest issue of the journal Tourism in Paradise.

Published by the Department of Tourism Management, Faculty of Management, Sabaragamuwa University, Sri Lanka, Tourism in Paradise is a forum for academics, travel and hospitality industry professionals, government officials, and university students to engage in constructive dialogue on economic development and ethical practices. In the book, titled “Factors Limiting the Return of US Tourists to Sri Lanka,” Gendle discusses multiple reasons why tourist visits from the US to Sri Lanka have not returned to pre-pandemic levels. Additionally, several strategies are suggested that the Sri Lankan tourism industry can adopt to increase business from the United States.
