The state-run Tourism Promotion Agency announced Tuesday that the number of foreign tourists visiting South Korea has recovered to 63% of last year's pre-pandemic levels.
According to the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), South Korea welcomed 11.03 million overseas tourists last year, an astonishing 245% increase from the previous year.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the number of arrivals plummeted from 17.5 million in 2019 to 2.52 million in 2020 and further to 970,000 in 2021.
