New programs include virtual peer-to-peer grief support groups that provide a nurturing space for individuals coping with grief
Do More Agriculture is in its fifth year as a community foundation.
The foundation provides mental health education to rural communities across the country, with the goal of giving communities the tools to support themselves and others.
Applications are currently being accepted and will be available until February 15, the organization said in a media release.
“Since our founding five years ago, FCC has been a proud founder of community foundations,” said Justin Hendricks, FCC President and CEO.
Over the past five years, FCC has partnered with Do More Agriculture to improve access to mental health resources, training, and workshops. Hendrix said she hopes the organization can help alleviate some of the mental health challenges facing many rural Canadians.
The FCC is steadfastly committed to providing continued support to mental health programs to address the unique challenges faced by Canadian farmers, Hendricks said.
“We are excited about this year’s Community Fund and would like to express our sincere gratitude to the FCC,” added Megz Reynolds, Executive Director of Do More Agriculture. “Their unwavering support for mental health in agriculture is helping bring awareness to people in rural communities and connect people with resources.”
New programs include virtual peer-to-peer grief support groups that provide a nurturing space for individuals dealing with grief.
In addition, the foundation has added SafeTALK workshops, which aim to provide individuals with the knowledge and capacity to provide effective support to those considering suicide and connect them with the help they need.
Specialist AgCulture courses continue to provide mental health professionals with an in-depth understanding of the specific challenges unique to the agricultural sector.
