KATHMANDU, Jan 28: Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah has asked the city's education director Sitaram Koirala to explain the letter referring to the decision taken by the education committee he heads. . Mayor Shah without the mayor's knowledge.
Mayor Shah gave Koirala seven days to submit a written explanation.
Bhupadev Shah, the mayor's personal secretary, said Koirala had been directed to submit an explanation within seven days from last Friday. Ms. Koirala cited the KMC Metropolis Education Board's decision to grant permission to Ratna Raja School in Baneshwar to conduct Plus 2 classes.
However, during the city's monitoring, it was revealed that classes for grade 11 students were being conducted without the committee's decision. Following the complaint, Ms. Koirala was directed to justify how she had granted permission without the approval of the committee.
Ratna Raja School had permission to run the science stream in 'Plus Two'. Mr. Koirala claimed that the decision was based on the decision of the Metropolitan Board of Education, but it turned out that no such decision had been taken by the same board. In response, Mr. Koirala was given one week to vindicate himself. After getting permission from Koirala, Ratna Raja School started classes with 22 students enrolled in Plus Two.
