Mombasa Stars of the National Super League have strengthened their squad with the signing of eight new players.
The Mombasa-based team has brought in three players from Bandari FC on loan, including midfielder Dennis Magigi, striker Alvin Ngoto and goalkeeper Arereya Sheikh.
Magige earned promotion from the youth team to the first team in 2018 and has since enjoyed a series of loan spells with Bandari FC. The midfielder previously had loan spells with Mombasa Stars, Coast Stima and Ulinzi Stars.
Other new players are as follows. Felix Omondi of Simanzi FC, Mbaruku Mohammed of Sokiki FC, Haji Mohammed of Kiembeni United, Lichie Odhiambo of Vihiga Bullets and Salim Mohammed of Mvita Youngsters.
Mombasa Stars head coach Hussein Mohammed 'Madaga' praised Magige for his resilience despite the ups and downs in his career, saying, “I believe Magige will contribute to our season. He will bring experience and help us achieve our dreams.”He said
Mombasa Stars team manager Ken Juma is optimistic that they can finish the season strong with the help of new recruits, saying: “We needed to strengthen the midfield area where we were having problems and now we have I'm ready for the leg and I hope I can finish the season.” They're third or fourth in the league. ”
Mombasa Stars, who will face Kajiado FC tomorrow at Ildamat Ground, are currently 12th in the NSL standings with 23 points after 18 matches.
