Gong Ching, who works at the factory, sometimes looks at his 4-year-old daughter with a smile. Gon started working at the factory eight years ago. When her husband faced the challenge of leaving her alone, she suggested bringing her children to work.

Tujia's traditional handmade brocade is a famous craft in Zhangjiajie City, one of the five major brocades in China, and boasts a rich tradition. In 2006, it was inscribed on China's first national intangible cultural heritage list.
Despite being initially unfamiliar with tucha weaving, after years of hard work, Gong has become a skilled craftsman and a respected inheritor of tucha weaving. “Working with Tucha brocade has enriched my life, allowed me to watch my children grow up, and find my own value in preserving and passing on our traditions,” Gong said.
