A rare opportunity to see a helicopter and even take a photo next to it presented itself, and the residents of Mationya, Murang'a County, did not waste the opportunity.

Where is Gatungur village?
The helicopter ran into a minor problem and had to make an emergency landing in the middle of Shamba in Gatungur village.
Victor Kinucia's Facebook post showed stunned villagers admiring the shiny green and white machine.

Curious people got close and started taking pictures, and some even went a step further and took pictures with them.
“Gatunguru Matioya tonight! Tag someone in Matioya and ask when they will take a selfie there. See you there,” Kinuthia said.

Light plane carrying KDF soldiers crashes, injuring 10 people
In December 2023, aircraft 5Y-GOK Cessna 208 crashed in Lamu County, injuring 10 people.
Two pilots, seven KDF members, and one police officer were on board the plane at the time of the accident.
According to preliminary reports, the plane crashed after colliding with a telephone pole while ascending from the Kiunga airstrip.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
