Nestlé USA's new coffee creamer factory in the Northwest Valley is set to open in the coming months, and the food and beverage company has begun hiring for several positions as part of plans to bring hundreds of jobs to the region. .
The $675 million manufacturing plant in Glendale, just north of Luke Air Force Base, produces creamer for Nestlé Coffee Mate, Starbucks and other brands and employs about 350 people, including engineers and manufacturing personnel. It is estimated that jobs will be created.
Construction of the 630,000-square-foot factory is about 95% complete, a company spokesperson said.
Nestlé plans to open the factory later this summer after completing safety inspections and operator training, a spokeswoman said. The company also must test and test its products to get the green light from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration before manufacturing them.
Months before the factory opens, Nestlé is recruiting for various positions based on job listings in Glendale posted on the company's online careers page.
What kind of work do you do and how much does it pay?

Some positions include multiple technician roles, production operators, maintenance and production supervisors, quality technicians and specialists, and factory supply chain operators.
Positions are a mix of hourly and salaried positions, with some positions offering a $2,500 sign-on bonus. One of her job openings for a night shift public works technician is to offer a $4,000 sign-on bonus.
The Utility Technician position requires a high school diploma or GED, as well as at least five years of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and boiler experience, and knowledge of chilled water glycol systems.
Some hourly jobs, like electrical and automation technicians, range from $40 to $43 per hour. Other jobs, such as electromechanical engineer, can earn between $36 and $38 per hour.
As far as education requirements for hourly jobs are concerned, electromechanical engineers should have a high school diploma or GED, just like public works engineers. A high school diploma or GED is recommended for factory supply chain and production operators.
economic revitalization
In March 2022, the Glendale City Council unanimously approved a resolution supporting the company's application to the federal government for foreign trade zone status on the 139-acre site.
Foreign trade zones are designated areas within the United States that provide eligible businesses with reduced federal duties and taxes. In Arizona, these businesses may also receive reduced property taxes.
The creation of the zone in Glendale strengthens its ability to compete with other cities in the Phoenix metropolitan area that already have such industrial attraction zones, said Randy Huggins, the city's economic development director at the time. he told the City Council at its March 8, 2022 meeting.
“FTZs have stimulated local economic revitalization and increased the local tax base relative to vacant farmland,” said Huggins, now the city's director of development services.
Once the road is completed, the company's newest plant will be located at 8351 N. 150th St., off Northern Avenue, a spokesperson said.
