NAIROBI, Kenya, December 27 – Siaya County Governor James Orengo has appealed to President William Ruto not to blame Kenya’s current economic situation on other countries and events in the country.
Speaking in Siaya, the governor said that the president's repeated actions condemning the wars in Ukraine and Israel are not a satisfactory reason for the worsening economic situation.
“Mr Ruto keeps telling us that Kenya is not doing well because of the global economy, because there is a war in Ukraine, and recently there is a war in the Middle East. ,” Orengo said.
The governor maintains that the president's claims about the country's economic situation are not accurate as other countries neighboring Kenya are gradually showing signs of development.
“If we compare it with what is happening in our neighborhood, in the Horn of Africa, we can judge whether Ruto is telling us the truth or lying,” he added. .
The governor said Kenya lags behind in economic development because many foreign investors who come to Africa prefer to go to other countries rather than Kenya.
“If you look at the fastest growing economies in Africa, the 10 fastest growing countries in Africa, Kenya is not there, but some of its neighbors are on that list. ” he said.
