Chicago (CBS) – Chicago police are investigating after five businesses were robbed overnight. Three were liquor stores, and his other two were a clothing store and a cosmetics store.
The robberies occurred within a few hours of each other between 1:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.
The first robbery occurred around 1:35 a.m. in the 2100 block of North Halstead Street, where the front window of the liquor store was found broken, police said. It is unclear whether anything was taken.
Later in the morning, police responded to a similar robbery at a clothing store in the 100 block of North Peoria Street, where the front glass door was also shattered. Officers determined the items had been taken after an on-site inspection.
Two more robberies occurred shortly thereafter at 3:23 a.m. and 3:26 a.m., including another liquor store and a Sephora in the 3400 block of North Southport Avenue. Police said merchandise was also stolen from these businesses.
Then, just before 5:30 a.m., a third liquor store was robbed in the 1500 block of North Wells Street. According to police, two unidentified men entered the store by breaking a window and stole items from inside. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction in a maroon SUV, possibly a Dodge.
It is unclear whether the two robbers from the previous robbery are related to the previous four. No arrests were made in either robbery.
Area 3 detectives are investigating.
