Srinagar, February 2: State Tax Commissioner PK Bhat today held an extensive dialogue with over 40 representatives of apex trade bodies at the Excise and Taxation Complex in Srinagar to improve GST for taxpayers. Various matters to encourage submissions and issues faced by traders were discussed. while paying taxes.
The meeting was attended by Additional State Tax Commissioner, Kashmir Department Shakeel Maqbool, representatives of KTMF, KCCI, PHD Chamber of Commerce, Travel Industry Association, Hoteliers, Houseboat Owners Association and other stakeholders. .
Participants will focus on interpreting and implementing GST policy, technical deficiencies faced by taxpayers, adopting an honest approach to tax collection, sensitizing enforcement officers, stopping vehicles in Udhampur, extending amnesty scheme, B2B transactions Invoice correction, and trader hand holdings in addition to other issues.
While responding to multiple questions and demands of trade and industry associations, the Secretary outlined that several issues, including awareness regarding GST interpretation, are faced by many people across the country that can only be addressed by the GST Council.
He expressed his intention to seriously engage with all parties involved.
Regarding bona fide efforts towards tax collection, he maintained that any action is required by law and that action is always only taken against non-compliance after service of notice.
He assured that vehicles would not be stopped unnecessarily in Lakhimpur, Udhampur and Lower Munda. This action will only be taken against those who evade detection at checkpoints.
He sought cooperation from stakeholders to streamline tax collection and bring unregistered sectors under the ambit of GST as their operations were causing losses to registered sectors.
