PESHAWAR: Adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Tourism, Culture, Archaeology and Museums Zahid Chanzeb awarded certificates to university students who completed their semester projects on tourism, travel, hotel and hospitality and other fields with the intervention of latest technology.
The project is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) and various universities with the basic objective of bridging the gap between the tourism industry and academia and encouraging creativity and research activities in the tourism sector.
Zahid Chanzeb recognised the students for their dedicated efforts and as a token of encouragement he awarded them cash prizes from his own pocket to boost their research skills, enthusiasm and morale.
He reiterated his strong support for these joint collaborative efforts and stressed the need to foster partnerships to bring more of these important projects and advance tourism and cultural endeavors in the state.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of technology in transforming travel, tourism and hospitality, Zahid Chanzeb added that KPCTA has rightly collaborated with various academic institutions to bridge the gap between industry and academia, which is the call of the hour.
The Advisor on Tourism reiterated the firm resolve of the PTI led provincial government to promote tourism as an industry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in its true essence. He asked the KPCTA to continue the development and growth of tourism and cultural sector on a war footing.
He said he was confident that collaboration with Pakistan's top academic institutions would improve tourism standards, raise cultural awareness and modernize this innovative industry, thereby attracting maximum domestic and international tourists to the province. Promotion of tourism and cultural activities would ultimately lead to a strengthening of the province's economy and increased employment opportunities among the unemployed, he said. Tourism, he said, is also a respectable source of cash income for educated youth.
