SUFFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) – The Suffield community is remembering the four children who lost their lives in a house fire in Somers last month. 22news participated in a special “Fitness Fundraiser.”
At Suffield, our gym family provides support in times of tragedy, combining physical strength with mental strength. Last month, a family was devastated when four children died in a house fire in Somers, Connecticut. As the surviving members of the Koropatkin family mourn their unimaginable loss, generous support continues to pour in from all quarters.
David Tripp, owner of Suffield Fitness Factory, told 22News: People outside the gym around her rallied to cheer her on. ”
More than 70 athletes took part in the fundraiser held at Suffield Fitness Factory on Saturday. Participants made a donation at the door and then jumped into various workout circuits.
“Not only does it build mental strength, but it also just shows people how a community can come together and support each other,” said Stephanie Leklenski of Westfield.
Suffield Fitness Factory is a CrossFit gym, and the workouts are often very physically demanding. Carrying the weight of grief can feel emotionally similar. This fundraiser is a reminder that there is always support throughout the struggle.
As of Saturday morning, more than $4,000 had been raised. Everything goes to the Koropatkin family.
