
Education innovators Pasi Sahlberg and Dave Runge will work with Catholic Education Ballarat to develop a strategic five-year plan to shape education in the diocese.
Professor Sahlberg and Mr Runge will work with Ballarat's school community, diocesan leadership staff and the diocesan school board to develop the plan.
Professor Sahlberg, currently based at the University of Melbourne, is a former school teacher and director general of the high-performing Finnish education system. He advises leaders in schools and education systems around the world, and was a professor at UNSW. He was also a professor at the University of Sydney and a visiting professor of practice at Harvard University.
As Director of Future Schools Australia, Ms Runge has channeled her passion for reimagining education into her work working with educational institutions across Australia and internationally to build new systems and drive innovative outcomes. He has deep expertise in transformational leadership, culture and innovation.
Tom Sexton, executive director of Catholic Education Ballarat, said: “Over the coming months, we will continue to build on our vision and plan to take the system into the future – an inspirational vision that enriches, enables and builds on our rich heritage. We aim to formulate a plan.”

Professor Sahlberg and Mr Runge believe the work with Catholic Education Ballarat will also be of interest to education authorities and policy makers nationally and internationally.
