The Indiana Bar Foundation announced Wednesday that the 150th Indiana Legal Help kiosk went online in Lake County.
The kiosk was initially intended to focus on housing issues such as evictions, but soon expanded to cover all of Indiana's laws on topics such as child custody, workplace discrimination, divorce, and expungement, according to the announcement. This will include access to professional support resources.
The self-service kiosk is part of an Indiana Department of Housing and Community Development grant project.
The kiosk provides access to the IndianaLegalHelp.org website, where users can access free legal assistance and self-help legal forms and resources.
“The Foundation is uniquely qualified and positioned to manage this important program,” Bar Foundation President Charles Dunlap said in a statement. “Our IndianaLegalHelp.org website is a great resource for Hoosiers facing eviction, and the kiosks make it easy for anyone across the state to access the site and find legal help. Masu.”
The Bar Foundation also recently launched the Indiana Legal Help Desk, a free service for people with housing law questions.
Legal Navigator provides information through live chat Monday through Friday and connects people to legal resources such as eviction clinics.
