Sellers Mark and Megan Rias are currently downsizing.
“We've done at least 11 renovations in the last 10 years or so, but when we saw this one, we were hooked, line and sinker,” Rias said.
“But (costs) start to add up, especially during a period of COVID-19 that has gotten out of hand.
“We knew we needed a lot of money for this property, and that was it as soon as we saw it.”
Lias pointed to a pool that cost three times as much as it did a few years ago.
“Prices are through the roof and won't come back down unless competition increases,” he said.
But he said the pool and entertainment area, as well as the backyard, which “went to great lengths to be completely level,” completely changed the feel of the mansion.
“When we first bought it, the kitchen was in the back corner and had no connection to the outdoors,” he said.
“We now have north-facing stacker doors, so we can see the kids from anywhere in the back.”
The couple have three children, but are currently downsizing.
“My eldest son is 21 and has left home, but my 18-year-old daughter is not home anyway,” Rias said.
“It’s pretty much just the two of us and our 8-year-old.
“There's still space for the kids, but it's smaller and I spend about half my time on the coast now, so I really want something that I can lock up and leave.”
