A tennis court described as a “fantastic waterfront block” has been sold for a whopping $2.9 million on the Gold Coast.
This is 3.5 times Brisbane's median house price of $818,000.
The 1,000-square-foot property at 2613 Virginia Drive in Hope Island was marketed by Professional – Kathy Jiang of Barturo Real Estate.
She said it was her first time selling a tennis court.
“A great opportunity to secure a stunning waterfront block located on the Grand Canal with stunning northern views,” the property listing states.
“With limited blocks available, now is the time to move in, build your dream home and start living the Hope Island Resort lifestyle.”
The property had 20 meters of water frontage and was located in a gated community with 24-hour security.

Property records show the traders bought two adjoining 1,000 square meter blocks on Virginia Drive in 2010, paying $1 million each.
They built a house at 2614 and a tennis court at 2613.
After 14 years, they decided to remove the tennis courts.
“Buyers are willing to pay a premium for land in Sanctuary Cove and Hope Island Resort,” Jiang said.
“This is an upscale area and there are very few vacant blocks left.
“Buyers will look at the blocks on offer, buy it, and buy the land bank.”
Jiang said the buyer of the tennis court is from the Gold Coast and plans to build a house on the site.
“This is the best street in the resort,'' she said.
Mr Jean said Hope Island Resort offered residents “the best of life in Queensland” with shops, restaurants and a golf course.
Property records reveal adjacent properties at 2612 Virginia Drive include a five-bedroom home that sold in September 2020 for $2.8 million.
