Athletics closer Mason Miller has already received trade interest from multiple MLB teams after getting off to a great start to the 2024 MLB season.
Other MLB teams have called the Athletics to inquire about a potential trade for Miller, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported Thursday, citing team officials.
According to Rosenthal sources, the price Oakland is currently asking for the hard-throwing right-hander is too high, and no team is willing to part with the young MLB players and prospects needed to make a trade happen.
Oakland got off to an amazing start, going 18-21, thanks in part to Miller and the Athletics' excellent bullpen.
Miller has been great for the Athletics so far this season, making eight of eight saves and averaging an MLB-leading fastball velocity of 100.8 mph. Given Miller's $740,000 salary this season and four more years at the helm, many teams will be interested in adding a flamethrower to their bullpen, especially as the season progresses. Dew.
The 25-year-old has had injury problems as well, having missed four months of last season with a UCL sprain in his right elbow.
Considering the durability concerns of current MLB pitchers, trading the league's most difficult relief pitcher could be a risky proposition for a team willing to part with an asset.
So far, the Athletics have fielded numerous calls from around the league, but nothing has come to fruition.
