Wild Kids Day Camp offers kids five days of adventure, developing outdoor skills, games, and a love of the natural world.
The BC Wildlife Federation is helping ensure the next generation of campers understand how to navigate nature.
“Go Wild” experiences are offered at various locations around the state, including Peachland and Christina Lake.
The camp includes a three-day backpacking trip that introduces Leave No Trace principles and camp cooking. Campers will learn archery, building shelters and firefighting equipment, using a compass, marksmanship, and firearm safety.
Practice field activities are provided whenever possible, such as by the Summerland Sportsman's Association for camps in Peachland. The Christina Lake camp will also offer firearms lessons in a controlled environment. All range of activities focus on safety and skill development.
“Go Wild campers are equipped with a set of practical skills that they can use to lead conservation projects in their local communities,” said Elissa Weikert, BCWF Youth and Education Coordinator. . “Conservation experts, including the BCWF Wetlands Team, are developing and empowering teens to make a positive difference in the environment.”
Go Wild is open to youth ages 12 to 17.
The Christina Lake Wild Kids experience begins July 29 at Owl Mountain Ranch. Peachland Camp will be held from July 17th to 25th at Silver Lake Camp in Peachland.
