Not only that, but the couple knew exactly how to transform their circa-1900 twin-gabled Tudor mansion at 23 Fenwick Road, Bury, to stand out from the crowd.

“When we saw this place, what we liked about it was that it was a wood-frame Tudor style with great columns…and we immediately knew it would lend itself very well to the Hamptons-style renovation that we love. ,” Tanner said. .
“From what we saw, it was in need of a significant renovation, but had not been touched since the mid-80s.
“The roof needed replacing and some other minor work needed to be done, but as the work progressed we realized that what Riverland really needed was something a little more upscale and luxurious.
“So we basically tore down the main house and put in new ceilings, new floors, new walls, new beams and actually opened it up to include new plumbing and electrical.
“It really was a $1 million renovation…and the property also had an old barn attached to it, so we renovated that first and lived there while the main house was being worked on.”

Renovations were officially completed last year and it is now up for sale.
It is expected to sell for more than $2 million, setting a new Bury home sales record.
The current record holder is a four-bedroom home on Riverview Drive that sold for $1.9 million in August of this year.
Mr Tanner said the main residence has four bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and both indoor and outdoor entertaining space, making the home suitable for a variety of buyers.
Meanwhile, a self-contained barn with two bedrooms and a kitchenette could function as a home office, teen retreat or Airbnb, as it is currently used.

“It's a beautiful place, but the reality is that we don't have the time to go out and enjoy it like we used to,” he says.
“Our kids live interstate now and we have property on the Gold Coast, so we'd love to do something similar there right now.”
