Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party wants to build an India that is rich and can lead the entire world in the fields of knowledge, science and spirituality.
Singh, who is the BJP candidate for the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat, also said that differences in the actions and words of political leaders in independent India have created a crisis of confidence in them.
“But I want to talk about the party I belong to. We (the BJP) have delivered on what we promised. Whether it was the promise of abrogating Article 370 or building Ram temple, we won We have fulfilled all the promises of the manifesto,'' Singh said while addressing a 'Prabbuddha Nagrik Sangoshti' organized at a private school in Gomti Nagar here.
The sitting MP from Lucknow added that Ram Rajya in India begins when people develop a sense of responsibility.
“If there is just a sense of authority without responsibility, then we should think that Ram Raja has not come and it is Kaliyug,” Singh said.
“I feel that people now have a greater sense of self-responsibility towards their country than they did in the past,'' he said.
The defense minister, who claimed to be a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh volunteer, said the Sangh never spoke about Hinduism and Islam (religions).
He went on to say that the Bharatiya Janata Party is doing politics to build the nation.
“We want to build an India that is both prosperous and capable of leading the entire world in the fields of knowledge, science and spirituality,” he said.
Singh said the Bharatiya Janata Party government is providing various scheme benefits such as free gas cylinders, housing and tap water without discrimination.
Mr. Singh claimed that terrorism had been eradicated from the country, which was becoming self-reliant by manufacturing defense equipment.
Lucknow city will go to vote in the fifth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls on May 20.
