Oak Ridge-based Boston Government Services LLC has promoted longtime executive Karen Harris to vice president of energy and environment.

“Our work to support America's clean energy future and the cleanup of the Department of Energy's legacy facilities is of vital importance to our country and is a source of great pride for BGS,” said Founder and CEO CEO Harry Boston said in a news release. “Karen will be integral to BGS's growth and performance and is the perfect choice for this important role.”
Harris is described in the release as a performance-oriented professional with more than 25 years of experience in strategic planning, business development, marketing, sales and business management across a variety of industries. She has 10 years of experience as a Chief Executive Officer of a small business providing technology services within the government sector. In this role, Harris was responsible for financial performance, human resources management, business development, and strategic growth.
“I am pleased to take on this expanded role,” Harris said in the release. “I have been involved in growing BGS from a small business to a high-performing mid-market company with annual revenues in excess of his $100 million, and our future promises even more growth.”
Harris helped establish the BGS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. This committee focuses on establishing a collaborative and welcoming work environment where employees of all backgrounds and demographics can work together.
She is a former member of the Forbes Business Development Council, an invitation-only community of senior sales/BD executives. Harris earned her bachelor's degree from California State University, Los Angeles, and her master's degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
