OTTAWA — Equispheres Inc. continues to expand its leadership team to support the accelerated industrialization of metal additive manufacturing. The Ottawa-based materials technology company recently appointed Dr. Adrian Kepler to its board of directors.
“Adrian is a great ambassador for the metal additive manufacturing industry as well as a great resource for us. He knows this business from every angle and has great confidence in the future of metal 3D printing.” said Kevin Nichols, CEO of Equispheres.
Kepler has deep ties to the industry. For many years he served as Managing Director and CEO of EOS and currently serves as an advisor and board member of several companies in his supply chain.
“I believe in metal 3D printing,” commented Kepler. “This will bring great value to the entire manufacturing community. To achieve widespread acceptance, we need to address the economics. We need to reduce the cost per part. Man-made materials help realize that equation. This is an important element.”
“Adrian has a unique understanding of what it takes to bring metal AM into mainstream manufacturing. He joins Equispheres because productivity-enhancing materials are critical to the future of additive manufacturing. – Kevin Nichols, CEO of Equispheres.
Keppler said he is focused on educating people about how Equispheres' materials enable more efficient, consistent and repeatable AM manufacturing, increasing productivity. I am. “Equispheres is more than just a powder manufacturer. We are a technology company that engineers high-strength materials and optimizes them for efficient use in 3D printing. That's what I do.”
Since leaving EOS, Keppler has focused on expanding metal AM for industrial manufacturing. He founded AM Sclation, his consulting team of AM experts focused on helping OEMs, contract manufacturers, and end users increase production of his 3D printed parts.
As a member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Kepler will bring his background to bear as Equispheres adds powder production capacity to support production programs and new developments.
Dr. Kepler is also a senior advisor for digital manufacturing at H&Z, a European management consulting firm. He holds a PhD in geotechnical engineering from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich and a degree in business administration from the University of Zurich.
Kepler believes there is a need to build credibility in the field at a time when metal AM is experiencing rapid growth. “As an industry, we need to earn the trust of the broader manufacturing sector. Trust means technical expertise and measurable results. This is what Equispheres is already doing differently in the market. It’s a method.”
