DUBLIN – Cricket Ireland is pleased to announce that approximately €490,000 has been awarded in cricket sporting equipment funding by Catherine Martin, Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, and Thomas, Minister for Sport and Physical Education. I'm happy. Byrne TD,
This significant investment was announced today as part of a whole-of-government package of €26 million in new equipment grants under the latest round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Program (SCEP).
Welcoming the funding announcement, Cricket Ireland CEO Warren Dutrom said:
“We are delighted that our clubs and projects are benefiting from this latest round of funding. We would like to thank Minister Martin, Minister Byrne and their staff for their support in allocating this grant. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you.
“This is a very significant national investment in our community-based sport and goes a long way towards our plans to make cricket, a lifelong sport and an equal opportunity sport, accessible to everyone. We're thrilled for the clubs supported by today's announcement and would like to encourage all eligible clubs to take advantage of this great opportunity for the benefit of their members and their communities. We strongly recommend that you strengthen your facilities.
“Cricket Ireland and the state federation have worked closely with clubs over the past year to support their applications in a variety of ways and it is really great to see this work paying off.”
Additional allocations for clubs applying for capital works only or capital works with a capital component are expected to be announced in the coming months.
