Kakamega Homeboys team manager Boniface Invenge has said that after losing 1-0 to Kenya Police in the FKF-PL match at Mumias Sports Complex Stadium last Sunday, he hopes his team will win the next game. I encouraged them to get back on the road.
The Homeboys are set to visit eighth-placed Bidco United in Nairobi next weekend as they look to reverse their recent poor run of form.
“To all Kakamega Homeboys fans, I want to assure you that our team will be back on winning ways in our next match.
“The players will be encouraged and will have to perform better. I have no doubts about that,” Invenzi asserted.
Invenge says they have to be motivated to get the season back on track, lest their strong start to the season be ruined.
“But we played against a good team and at least we are aware that the morale of the team is not what it used to be.
“I think the players were depressed after losing against KCB in the FKF Cup (quarterfinals) match. They wanted to go all the way and defend their title and represent them in the CAF Confederation Cup. Because I wanted to.
“The players were shocked by this loss because they were confident they could win the title for the second year in a row, but that dream disappeared with the loss to KCB,'' Invenge said.
The loss to Police FC left Patrick Odhiambo's side in seventh place with 40 points, one behind the powerhouse AFC Leopards.
