Left-wing Jewish billionaire and philanthropist George Soros and the organizations he funds are reportedly funding anti-Israel protests on college campuses across the United States. The protests, which began last week at Columbia University, have spread to universities in more than eight US states, the New York Post reported.
Cash from Soros and his group is key to protests at Columbia University. At Columbia University, three groups set up a tent city last Wednesday. These groups are Students for Justice Palestine (SJP), Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), and Our Lifetime.
Copy tent cities, known as “liberated zones,” have also been set up at universities such as Harvard, Yale, Berkeley and Ohio State University in California, and Emory University in Georgia. A student branch of SJP supported by Soros.
SJP called Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7 a “historic victory.” SJP has reportedly received $300,000 from Soros' Open Society Foundations since 2017 and $355,000 from the Rockefeller Brothers Foundation since 2019, according to media reports. The Rockefeller Brothers Foundation is chaired by Joseph Pearson and includes David Rockefeller Jr., the fourth generation of the oil dynasty, on the board.
Students have clashed with police in some of these copycat tent cities. The New York Post reports that SJP is funded by a network of nonprofits backed by billionaire Soros, who is known for “destabilizing the Bank of England.”
At three of these universities, protests against Israel are encouraged by radicals who are “allies” of a Soros-funded group called the United States Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR). Protesters at the Columbia University encampment will reportedly buy Dunkin' pizza and coffee, free sandwiches from Pret a Manger, organic tortilla chips and rotisserie chicken in tents purportedly purchased from Amazon. Students have been seen.
USCPR gives approximately $7,800 to community-based fellows and $2,800 and $3,660 to campus-based fellows if they spend eight hours a week organizing a “Palestinian organization-led campaign.”
“They are trained to 'rise up for revolution,'” the New York Post reported. Last week, USCPR Fellow Craig Birkhead Morton was arrested at Yale University and charged with first-degree trespassing when SJP affiliate Yalies4Palestin occupied the school's Beinecke Plaza, the Yale Daily News reported. was indicted for the crime. Morton, who is also a former intern for Democratic Rep. John Sarbanes, was released from custody to respond to a sit-in that was blocking traffic in New Haven.
SJP commented on reports surrounding the funding, saying it “refuses to engage in unsubstantiated claims about our funding at a time when US military and political support is funding genocide” in Washington.・Told the Post.
