NAIROBI, KENYA, May 8 – Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has announced that the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has issued a warning in Kisii County after a gang attacked the KETRACO-owned Kegati 132/33kV substation, plunging the area into darkness early on Tuesday. announced that power had been restored.
KETRACO managing director John Matibbo said in a statement that the company had “energized” transformer TX1 and loaded four output 33kV feeder lines to serve customers.
Mr Matibo also noted that power supply had been successfully restored to the towns of Kisii, Kiamakoma, Kilgoris and Kisii East.
“Following a vandal intrusion on Tuesday’s KETRACO-owned Kegati 132/33kV substation in Kisii County, four output 33kV feeder lines were removed to power KETRACO’s transformer TX1 and serve customers. I am happy to report that we were able to load the load,” he said.
“We would like to thank the residents of the Kisii region for their patience as our engineers work towards the full restoration of normal power supply. KETRACO deeply regrets any inconvenience caused.” he added.
He further said that KETRACO and Kenya Power engineers are working on installing and terminating the destroyed Homa Bay feeder cable and repairing and restoring Kenya Power's transmission transformer 2.
