Kitui – The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested former parliamentary aspirant Militnik Mwendwa Kitute on charges of impersonating an anti-corruption official.
Mr. Kitute was taken into custody at his home on Saturday, April 20, following investigation.
He was found to be issuing fake integrity clearance certificates to job seekers in exchange for money.

Additionally, he was found in possession of a firearm and seven mobile phones, all of which were seized by authorities.
Is Militnik Mwenda an ex-criminal?
According to a report by Citizen Digital, the EACC labeled Kituto an “armed and dangerous criminal” due to his criminal record.
“The suspect, Militnik Mwendwa Kitui, was tracked by EACC detectives from Nairobi to his home in Kitui and arrested at 4am on Saturday. Firearms and seven mobile phones were among the items seized. ” says the statement.
Mwendwa was detained at Kilimani Police Station and is scheduled to be arraigned at Milimani Law Court today, Monday, April 22.

Meanwhile, investigative agencies are pursuing government officials suspected of being involved in the corruption scandal.
Former Mandera South MP Adan Haji was one of the officials arrested in early February 2024 for his involvement in a corrupt transaction involving Ksh51,456,006.

The EACC said the former lawmaker defrauded funds while serving as County Executive Officer for Tourism in Kwale County Government.
Haji used a hotel run by his wife and son to conduct the transaction with his employer, but he did not disclose his stake in the transaction during the bidding and winning process.
