Tiberias Mamwacha, 20, was with two others when he went swimming with his swimming students on Friday.
In the video seen by TUKO.co.kethree students were captured happily swimming in a swollen river.
A student who was filming others swimming could be heard encouraging others to continue swimming toward the riverbank.
But what started as innocent fun turned into a nightmare after Mwamwacha drowned as his colleagues watched helplessly.
After hours of searching, local divers managed to recover Mwamwacha's body as residents looked on in disbelief.
Nairobi student drowns in school pool
Elsewhere, an Eastleigh family was left in agony and great distress after their 11-year-old son drowned in the school pool just days after starting school.
Ilyas Abdikarim Ali Mohamud, a second-grader at Biza Oshwal Elementary School, went missing on Tuesday night, February 20, when his father picked him up from school.

Mohamud's family said efforts to find the second grade student were futile until his body was found in the school's swimming pool on Wednesday morning, February 21.
On Thursday, February 23, the Magistrates Court was told by the Director of Criminal Investigations that the school's pool manager, Geoffrey Opara, had witnessed children drowning but did not inform school management. He was ordered to be detained for seven days.
The investigating agency said Opara had neglected his official duties in violation of Article 128, which is equivalent to Article 36 of the Penal Code.
