A family lost a relative after their boat capsized in the Kona Punda area of Tana River District on Sunday evening, leaving them feeling sad, sad and empty.
Bags and belongings were recovered and the missing person's identity was determined.
The search for more bodies continues, with four bodies so far recovered from the raging sea.
Ibrahim Mohamed Baty's family is grieving, but also considering their blessings. Ibrahim was one of the four people who were confirmed dead after their bodies were identified by their families.
He was on the boat with his four children who were lucky to survive.
According to the Madogo Police Station report, 23 people were rescued and 15 people are missing in the incident.
Leaders in Tana River and Garissa now claim that greed caused the disaster.
“A particular person is to be blamed. He didn't have a license so he took a couple of boats from Lamu and overloaded people with no regard for safety at all. Very Unfortunately, there are no life jackets or trained personnel,” Garissa Governor Nadif Jama said.
After the incident, movement was restricted to essential personnel.
More than 24 hours later, hopes of finding the missing alive are slowly fading, but their families remain hopeful.
