He headed to the row where cooking oil and drinks were sold.
After looking around, he realized there was no staff available for that section, so he pulled out a bag and began hiding 5 liters of Fresh Friday branded SKUs inside.

While doing so, another group of customers showed up, he pretended to be looking around, and left the oil area with one oil container, which he probably intended to pay as a decoy.
Meanwhile, surveillance camera lenses captured everything that happened.
He then proceeded to the sales location, unaware of the discovery by officials who showed up for questioning.
The man revealed that he was looking forward to starting a business making mandazi and the spoils were to be part of his capital.
The police called him in and he was treated as a thief.

Similarly, two elderly women were once caught on camera shoplifting from a supermarket.
They went to the row where cooking oil and drinks were kept.
The nearly two-minute video shows them colluding and hiding the loot in a handbag belonging to one of them.

They happened to take advantage of the fact that there was no staff to manage the area.

We see a large cheese wearing a black pullover peeking out to make sure no one is watching.
She then goes to pick out a brand of high-end oil and hands it to her accomplice in a maroon jacket.
They repeat the same thing, and the accomplice in the maroon jacket hides the loot in a bag and leaves the line.
During that time, no one will “break in” to abort their mission.
There are two cooking oils in the bag.
After the attendant leaves the line, the ringleader, wearing a black pullover, still remains there, pretending to shop even after two other customers show up.
After successfully escaping the premises, presumably unnoticed, the two end up catching up and sharing the spoils.
The theft is believed to have occurred in Kisii town, as shown in the footage.
