The 23-year-old said as she sat and waited, a man approached where they were sitting and poured hot oil on her.
“He went and heated the oil, put it in a pot and came back. Now his sister asked him if he made lunch in just two minutes. He said it took that long to cook rice. I told her it wouldn't take. And his sister said, “Give me some,'' and when my boyfriend opened the oil, I wasn't ready and was just looking at my phone. “He poured it on me when I was in the hospital,” she said from her hospital bed.

It is not yet clear what motivated his actions, as photos of the couple show that they were happy and there were no problems between them.

The victim's family said Wangesi's girlfriend was still walking free, despite their family calling authorities.
