Labor leaders have called for increased funding for Lincolnshire's education system to support the next generation.
National Education Union Lincolnshire secretary Ken Lustidge said the government had “failed” on all fronts and called for the next government to provide more support for schools.
His comments come after Lincolnshire County Council said there were “sufficient” schools in Gosburton and Long Sutton to accommodate two large housing developments earmarked for those areas. It is something.
Figures released by the county council show Long Sutton County Primary School has just five spaces, while Gosburton Primary School has 14 spaces.
Mr Rustidge said the country needed more housing and felt the problem stemmed from “underfunding of education”, which was leading to poor conditions in schools. .
“The biggest problem is that the government has failed in all areas,” he said.
“Schools can do what they can to create more places, but obviously that requires more funding and that has undermined everything the government has been involved with.
“The county council is doing a good job, but the problem is that the government is not funding schools in the county equitably.
“People will need to think very carefully. With a general election coming up this year, they will need to think carefully about how much better off they feel their lives are now compared to 2010. , a decision needs to be made.
“We feel strongly that the government should invest in facilities.”
Rustidge also wants to see more equitable funding for schools across the country, along with tackling rural poverty. Recent statistics show that the number of families classified as living in poverty is increasing.
