An NG-CDF driver has been arraigned in court in connection with the murder of a bouncer in Homa Bay County.
Kennedy Ogaro Osano, the driver of the vehicle owned by the Kasipur NGCDF, was charged in an Oyugisu court for the murder of Mr. Evans Okoda in the Rawinji area of Oyugisu town on the night of May 2nd and 3rd. .
Mr. Okoda was found dead on the premises of a rented house in Oyugisu town with severe head injuries and his right wrist cut off.
In his testimony in court, Rachuonyo South sub-county criminal discrimination investigator David Kiriu, Osano's call data linked him to the murder case.
“He made numerous phone calls in Oyugisu town between the afternoon of May 2 and May 3. We collected call data that linked Mr. Osano to the incident,” Kirui said.
Kirui said they have collected a large amount of data that has not yet been analyzed.
He said more time was needed to keep Osano in custody to complete the investigation.
Prosecutor Churchill Ogema also asked the court to grant the Directorate of Criminal Investigations more time to continue detaining Mr. Osano.
“This is a matter of public interest and the case is still under investigation. I appeal to the court to give investigators more time,” Ogema said.
Oyugis Resident Magistrate Cynthia Cheruiyot granted the DCI an additional seven days to continue detaining the suspect.
“The DCI's seven-day application for continued custody of the suspect has been granted. The matter will be referred to on May 14 and further instructions will be given,” Cheruiyot said.
The order allows police to continue to detain him at Oyugis Police Station.
