Investigators are investigating the murder of Sheila Odoyo, a popular Ohangra dancer known by her stage name Sheila Wegesha, whose body was found in her home in Athi River, Machakos District.
Sheila, 38, is believed to have been murdered on Thursday morning and her body found hours later in her bed at the Hillview estate.
According to a police report, the 18-year-old daughter found her lifeless body in bed before raising the alarm.
The body, discovered around 1pm on Thursday, May 9, had pools of blood surrounding it, indicating that it had been dead for more than four hours.
Police said he had a deep cut to his throat.
Police in charge of the matter said they were searching for the deceased's husband, who was allegedly seen inside the house several hours earlier.
He is said to have left the house shortly after midnight on Wednesday without telling any other family members who were present.
His daughter said he left in his car.
Detectives said they would like to discuss the matter with the man.
The motive for the murder is not yet known.
The daughter had prepared lunch for her mother, but when she realized that her mother was dead, she went to wake her up and gave her the same lunch.
Police arrived at the scene and disposed of the body, which was then moved to the mortuary until an autopsy could be carried out.
The couple own a popular bar in Nairobi's Umoja area.
Sheila is a popular Ohangra dancer. Many of her followers learned of her death and mourned her on social media.
Her mourners pointed to possible motives behind the murder and called for justice for the family.
Police have promised to ensure justice in this murder case.
