The National Collegiate Debating Championship, held in Arabic, saw police academy teams representing the National Police Academy compete in the final round, which focused on debating dramatic works based on historical figures and events. They defeated the Qatar University team and won the Arabic title. The winning team (Police College) was hosted by Education City's Qatar Debate Center and the championship was attended by students Ammar Al Ansari, Saeed Al Qaftani and Mohammed Al Nasser. The second place Qatar University (QU) team included students Mohamed Al Yafei, Mohamed Farag and Abdullah Al Shammari. Third place went to the Qatar University team, which included students Al Dana Al Hajri, Asmahan Al Kuwari and Al Maha Al Badr. Shaima Abu Talib of Lusail University won the title of best speaker of the championship, while Mohammed won. Al Yafei (QU) was selected as his second best speaker and Mohamed Abdulnabi Farag (QU) was selected as his third best speaker. The National University Debating Championship in Arabic is part of a series of regional leagues between universities organized by QatarDebate, a peer-to-peer league that aims to diagnose vital issues and elicit stimulating ideas and dialogue skills among students. This is in line with the Center's mission. In the debate league, in which eight universities participated, QU took first and second place, and Doha University took third place. At the speaker level, Moza Al Hajiri from Georgetown University was named the best speaker, followed by Abdullah Mahlan and Abdullah Al Qubaisi from Qatar University. The Arabic National University Debate Championship will be held at the end of the debate league. (QNA)
